Meanwhile, ammonia-as-fertilizer is typically made from natural gas and is more expensive than ever because of the disruptions caused by the war in Ukraine. And trace amounts of water will make it corrosive.
It's amazing the lengths the system will go to to pretend they're not using hydrocarbons while they're using hydrocarbons.

So am I right to deduce from your position, that if you were in charge of planning the research/development of some new engine technology, you would do it as follows? First, you would wait for the specific fuel to be produced 100 % climate neutral and available at worldwide scale sufficient for 20 % of vehicle fleet. Only then, would you even begin developing the engine which runs on this fuel. Leading to a lag of probably at least 5 years (likely more, because technology matures slowly), between (a) fuel being available at scale and (b) the actual vehicles being available. You're aware that energy for EVs (both for driving and producing them) still heavily depends on hydrocarbons? Should companies that are now selling EVs have waited another 10-15 years (so until the 2030s) for electricity grids to (maybe) be fossil free first, to begin with developing EVs?
