I had a YouTube Premium family plan (US) for awhile because I don't want my family to see ads. The problem is that I need to use a VPN all the time for it to work because I live outside the US. That gets cumbersome... so I cancelled it and use ad blockers and a rooted LG TV for now. In the modern world there are so many people that are citizens some place, but work or revel often in other places. These kind of restrictions are a nuisance.
