- resolutebat 3y ago> Aerial photography was used again in the 1966 by-census and the next decennial census in 1971. In addition to the astonishing visual impact of surviving photographs, Of course, the article does not actually include any of these astonishing photographs, and I can't find them online either. - killingtime74 3y agoBit misleading title because this population still exist although it is much smaller. https://en.m.wikipedia.org/wiki/Tanka_people https://en.m.wikipedia.org/wiki/Tanka_people (not the only group). I'm from Hong Kong and frequently sail nearby.
- okasaki 3y agoPeople in the UK live in canal boats all over the country, and it's increasing too, presumably due to the "housing crisis" that's too profitable to do anything about.
- keiferski 3y agoThe novel Noble House by James Clavell and subsequent TV miniseries starring Pierce Brosnan involve these boats quite a bit. The miniseries was filmed on location in Hong Kong and a decent portion of it takes place on the boats/in the harbor. The book is better than the show, but it's still worth watching. https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Noble_House_(miniseries) https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Noble_House_(miniseries)
