Women seeking jobs in Bill Gates’ office were asked sexually explicit questions
- Bostonian 3y agoSounds bad, but the WSJ summary makes it seem more reasonable: "Some people who sought jobs at billionaire Bill Gates’s private office described going through an extensive screening process that included being questioned by a security firm about their sexual histories, past drug use and other parts of their private lives that might indicate they were vulnerable to blackmail."
- lisasays 3y agoNot really. A lot of these questions are basically pointless (because there's no way to check their answers, and anyone who poses a genuine risk is just going to lie). Aside from just being obnoxiously stupid: One woman hoping to secure employment was reportedly asked if she had ever contracted a sexually transmitted disease. Meanwhile, you're likely to turn away your better candidates (for the precise reason that they'll never put up with this crap) -- and attract those most financially prone, and/or desperate for a career boast. That is, precisely those who are more susceptible to blackmail.
