    I could see various legit reasons for this. He's obviously very attached to the topic and would skew discussion. Or maybe he'd be too into it. Or maybe it's like a judge recusing themselves. Whatever the reason, I wouldn't read too much into it.

    This probably makes sense. Whatever he says is instantly Word of God, and will influence both the D language and the public opinion of it. Better do that in a well thought out message, e.g on the D lang site. Meanwhile, he can listen to the HN 'jungle drums' and get a feel about what the public thinks. Even if the silent majority and the noisy opinions don't always agree, you can learn a lot about how to shape both the language and the public opinion of it.
