I distinctly remember opening the fold out of an issue (April 1997) and staring for what must have been hours at the Hubble deep field image, just trying to comprehend what I was seeing. I’d never seen the image on the Internet at that point. I guess it might have been published there, but viewing it in high resolution print would have been way more impressive than an SVGA CRT or whatever I was using then.
