Not really a dupe in that it provides additional commentary from other researches over the past couple of weeks. So I'd say the NYT article provides additional value. Being as the earth's axis shifting when it's not supposed to is kind of a big deal, and all.
- dredmorbius 3y agoYou should make that case to the mods (hn@ycombinator.com) rather than me (I'm not a mod, just another reader here). For rationale, see e.g., <https://news.ycombinator.com/item?id=27028471 https://news.ycombinator.com/item?id=27028471> That's the case you'd want to be arguing against. Again, to the mods. As an alternative, it's also a good idea to submit a comment along with the post explaining why a topic that's been recently discussed merits another go at the queue. You can do this by filling in the text box along with the URL in the submission. Your text will then post as the first comment on the thread. And mind that I also call out non duplicates where warranted: <https://news.ycombinator.com/item?id=36429913 https://news.ycombinator.com/item?id=36429913> And previous submissions which were below the dupe threshold (about 20 comments usually): <https://news.ycombinator.com/item?id=36494096 https://news.ycombinator.com/item?id=36494096>
