SMBs plagued by exploits, trojans and backdoors
- NoZebra120vClip 3y agoIt's crazy, I mean, theoretically you could run a retail business off a smartphone and a Square account. Who can afford to outsource IT to a MSP if you can barely afford to pay your webmaster? When you rent a building, you get some form of physical security included. You may have fire and burglar alarms, a guard, doors that lock and a key to get in, you get insurance. Physical security is very well-understood. It's a world of difference with IT and Cybersecurity. You can purchase devices and apps and you can subscribe to services and get in all kinds of trouble in the cloud, but who's managing your Cybersecurity? It's a cultural concept too, not merely technical: businesses will need to understand Cybersecurity in order to prepare for threats and respond to attacks in the same way that they do for physical security. That's quite intractable for the time being. There's a huge learning curve and I think there's a huge opportunity for growth in the Cyber industry, as SMBs realize they need this, but still don't know what they want.
