I think you are maybe missing the scale of my point. Canada is a country of 40m people. There are 8000m people on this planet. If we "let everyone who wants in" in, then the country's population could double if just 0.5% of the planet thought Canada was a better place than they are in already. There are easily that many such people. You think housing stock can be doubled? You think there are jobs for a doubling of population? On what time scale? Like I said already, it needs to be spread over decades.
