I also didn't like concerts for 20 years because they were way too loud. I would take cheap foam earplugs for mowing the lawn and all you could hear/feel was bass. Then I got some Etymotic high fidelity earplugs and concerts are enjoyable. They reduce all frequencies equally so the music still sounds good.
