I think this comes down to people commenting out of their area of expertise. I remember hearing some expert (during the COVID outbreak) state that while they'd like to comment on some issue, they didn't have any particular expertise in the subject. It was refreshing not to have someone bullshitting. Humans love facts, knowledge, and particularly answers to their questions and concerns, even when there are no good answers. Yet there's always someone willing to provide an answer, even when it's fundamentally wrong.
