How Review-Bombing Can Tank a Book Before It’s Published
- cratermoon 3y agoMeanwhile, the Goodreads site has been down or degraded for 7 hours: https://downforeveryoneorjustme.com/goodreads https://downforeveryoneorjustme.com/goodreads
- kjs3 3y agoIt mystifies me that people put so much stock into sites that are so obviously, easily gamed. I don't know if Goodreads is currently worse than something absolutely execrable like Yelp, but I ditched it years ago when it became obvious there were organized groups who would systematically shitpost and downvote anything that didn't fit their particular taste...everything from cretins pushing things like "it's not science fiction if it isn't 'hard scifi' following my preferred tropes and I will not stand for any deviation from orthodoxy" to simple "I downvote anything by gay people or women". I don't have time to curate the reviewers, which means it's simply not a credible source.
