- Bostonian 3y agoThe languages they consider are C, C++, Python, MATLAB, and Julia. I wish Fortran had been included, but since the paper has many of the prompts, people can experiment independently with Fortran.
- PaulHoule 3y agoTalk about an area of programming that is full of footguns. (e.g. an early textbook on numerics for the computer age was titled ‘Numerical methods that usually work’, what I remember most vividly from Saul Teukolsky’s class was just how easy is to discretize a PDE in a way that gets the wrong answers.)
