It depends on how the entire project was funded and structured, and it sounds a little bit like an official grant - I'm probably reading a lot into the situation, but if lead party was within the company your company subcontracted to, they probably landed a grant improperly or for the explicit purposes to defraud. When discovered, those within the authoritative body see all involved as suspects - but since you company only got a letter, it sounds like the authorities are just looking for cooperation. As for mindset, sadly that comes with the territory of being accused. Clearer thoughts prevail with sleep, so I'd suggest take something like proper melatonin, which even if you don't sleep much better, it may help with your anxious state. Hopefully you keep a work diary and can construct a time line of activities and expenses with that job.
