Children are too often nothing but whiny, annoying screamlings. Any café that bans them makes a very good chance at my custom. Any café that encourages their presence loses my custom. Bars exist, and kids are generally prohibited from entering them: must we change that, as well?
- dimmke 3y agoI also feel this way about dogs
- mensetmanusman 3y agoThis might be a tragedy if the commons type situation. Sure, it's great to enjoy coffee in silence, but would society be better off if we tolerated and included all aspects of life?
- kbelder 3y agoI feel the opposite; a restaurant is impoverished if it doesn't allow children. Having kids present is a life-affirming joy, even when they're rambunctious or upset. If I get a wedding invitation, for instance, that says children are not invited, not only do I decline, but I would tend to lose interest in socially interacting with them in the future. Not that that is the 'correct' position or that you are wrong; but just wanted to point out that different people feel very differently about it.
- octokatt 3y agoAt some point, you were a "whiny, annoying screamling". The way this condition stopped was from socialization, which is harder to do when children are removed from the majority of avenues of socialization. The majority of social hubs need to be child friendly for the next generation receive this important instruction. For reference, I have trouble with loud noises causing migraines. As a result of those desires, I socialize in quiet bars during non-peak hours and libraries.
