We have a team who carry out reviews on candidates' code challenge submissions in their spare time (paid of course). Their focus is to provide detail to the candidate that the hiring team hasn't got time to do. Our bar to join the review team is set very high and we are assessing their ability to provide well balanced feedback. Every submission gets a detailed line by line review, with detailed explanation from our review team explaining the pros and cons of the submission. We're looking at things like code quality, solution design, problem solving skills and test coverage. We also provide the ability for the candidate to write comments on the review to try and avoid the usual one way street that happens with lots of technical assessments. I have seen these comments get a candidate a next stage interview when their initial submission was deemed not to be a 'pass' Each challenge has a set of review guidelines that aligns of team of reviewers to standardise reviews.
