- oxfordmale 3y agoIt is probably cheaper than the original fine if they had kept the evidence.
- DrBazza 3y agoIt would be ironic if amongst the messages deleted was "Is $4m less than what we'd be fined for that other thing we did?"
- DrBazza 3y agoThis attitude is actually common place in the industry. Can we make more profit than the fine for market abuse?
- KMnO4 3y agoReminds me of the infamous Fight Club scene > Take the number of vehicles in the field, A, multiply by the probable rate of failure, B, multiply by the average out-of-court settlement, C. A times B times C equals X. If X is less than the cost of a recall, we don't do one.
- salawat 3y ago...That's actually textbook business/enterprise risk management calculation believe it or not. Not a facsimile or artistic exaggeration. If you want to know why so much shady crap happens, part and parcel of that is when we fo catch malicious behavior, the fines are so small as to be cost of doing business.
- fkarg 3y agothat's probably true actually
- footlose_3815 3y agoThe price of doing | business | as usual.
