The best realistic outcome is that the technology becomes convenient and ubiquitous enough that people's default reaction is to distrust it. Suppressing the technology only makes it more likely that people will trust it, which increases the total harm of it.
- BoxFour 3y agoThat outcome seems rather unfavorable. It would undoubtedly raise doubts regarding the credibility of literally any video or audio content, invoking the "liars dividend” and benefiting the most untrustworthy more than any others.
