The articles content is good, but the framing feels antagonistic. This is reflected in the defensive posture of many comments here, and I believe it comes from a significant percentage of developers never having even seen what a healthy cross-functional team actually looks like! The two elements are competence and trust. Not everyone has to be perfect, in fact mistakes will always be made, but there needs to be willingness to address problems and stretch a bit to cover up one anothers gaps. Without that baseline competence and trust we get into finger-pointing and not-my-job territory where it becomes impossible to achieve anything non-trivial.
