Show HN: Bing Chat sidebar ported from Edge to Chrome
- fengyeMapple 3y agoI always switch between Edge and Chrome just for the BingAI，you perfectly solved that for me.
- TowerTall 3y agoThere is an alternative. You can access web.skype.com (in any browser), add Bing as a contact and then chat with BingAI there
- solardev 3y agoThis is so hilariously Microsoft. Let's do cutting edge AI research! But wait, this other department says we have to put it in a sidebar. A what? Who uses those anymore? Then another department is like wait, what about Skype? Who uses THAT anymore? And so now we have the latest chatbots locked behind video chat from twenty years ago...sigh lol
- ralusek 3y agoDoes anybody else feel as though Bing chat only working in Edge is a bit of a violation of web culture? Gmail, YouTube, Maps only working on Chrome. Is this what we want? Is this what Microsoft wants? I can't remember the last product for which this has been the case. Needless to say, I haven't downloaded Edge, and I'm an avid GPT user.
- jszymborski 3y agoIt follows a long tradition of Microsoft browsers violating "web culture".
- nar001 3y agoMicrosoft, Google, all the big companies other than Mozilla really
- jesuismey 3y ago[dead]
- Bombinator 3y agoYou can just change the user agent but it's still dumb that you have to.
- mickelsen 3y agoCool! Thanks for sharing. BTW does anyone know about extensions using this API that allow any website in the sidepanel, similar to Vivaldi? Brave only gets icons there, as a second bookmark bar which is kind of useless.
