This article is interleaved with references to a particular group they're calling "upper middle class" that include the descriptors "rich" and "well off" while also providing anecdotes from members of this group struggling with rent and grocery prices.
I know it's all relative, but I don't think of "rich" people as those struggling with rent, even in high cost of living cities.
Writings like this that seem to pit upper, middler, and lower incomes against each other feel written to benefit the unmentioned folks wholly unaffected by (or benefitting from) rent prices, whose wealth does not rely on "income".
