"Always think critically"?
"Simply read the textbook" would be a more practical instruction, and also what I did in university anyway.
Critical thinking is a useful description but not a good prescription. It's like telling someone to always be orange. If you want that to happen you have to eat carrots. It won't just happen by fiat or willpower.

- danuker 3y agoWhatever a student encounters in a field probably has search results on the web. I find it hard NOT to find the same question on sites like StackOverflow, Quora, or Reddit.
- civilized 3y agoMy last contact with the educational system as a learner was around 2009, so I missed pretty much the whole YouTube / Khan Academy revolution. It would be very interesting to see what it's like to learn today, what resources I'd find most effective.
- dools 3y agoI saw a project where someone had trained an AI on classic novels so you could have a conversation with the book. I think AI trained on text books should be able to achieve the same thing relatively easily. It’s just an interactive textbook, seems like a pretty good idea to me.
