To be honest, I was surprised time and again how many projects support it. Microsoft, e.g. has a repo for VS Code.
But yes, there are quite a few projects without direct support for OpenSUSE, for my needs it hasn't been a big problem so far.
- dizhn 3y agoRecently nvidia added an opensuse repo too. I personally have yet to encounter a package I couldn't find.
- jacooper 3y agoIn my case docker not having a SUSE repo is a big hurdle, as I use docker everywhere.
- adultSwim 3y agoI would assume that Suse maintains their own Docker packages. I rely on Docker's repo since I currently run Debian stable, whose docker packages are way too old. I would imagine Tumbleweed doesn't have this issue. One of the reasons I'm looking at switching to podman is to avoid being reliant on third party repos.
- jacooper 3y agoThey do have docker in their repos, its just not the latest version. Its the same thing with podman, you are going to be stuck with old versions, and I would say its much more important to have the latest version of podman than docker, as its very actively developed, especially when it comes to compatibility with docker compose.
- adultSwim 3y agoTumbleweed has v24 of Docker. The versioned releases do as well, as experimental packages. I'm going to have to give Suse a serious look. https://software.opensuse.org/package/docker https://software.opensuse.org/package/docker
