Take homes, whiteboards, leet codes, iq tests, and every other random assignment in the interview process do not matter if the company has unrealistic expectations and looks for a 100x engineer in them. Most of the companies fail to find anyone and keep searching forever wasting their internal resources. That’s why i really like my current company where we don’t set unrealistic expectations to candidates, we let them solve some basic coding task live and mostly talk to people. If the person can write code, a basic sql and clicks with everyone, we hire them. And our tech recruiter does wonders properly filtering cvs and recognizing fakers by just talking them. That’s probably the most important stage in the pipeline.
