Somewhat ironically, the new code view feels markedly slower on my machine: it seems to take longer to load and there is a noticeable delay before the text appears when jumping around (e.g., using Ctrl-F). Admittedly, I rarely look at particularly large files so it may be faster in that case, but I'm not sure the tradeoff is worth it if more typically-sized files render slower. That being said, it is good to hear that this is less jarring for screen readers (as someone who does not use a screen reader), but it feels like an unnecessarily complex method of achieving better accessibility.
