American states are bailing out public transport

- taeric 3y agoI don't know why, but this headline hits me the wrong way, hard. It is not "bailing out" something. It is literally "states investing in themselves." We rightly mock this when it is found that states haven't invested in the maintenance and upkeep necessary for infrastructure. Public transit is easily seen as a non-static infrastructure. Cutting spending to it has consequences of stability, in much the same way that not maintaining a bridge or road does.
