Fastest Ever Lap at the Isle of Man TT – Peter Hickman – 136 MPH [video]
- dmbche 3y agoThe Isle of Man TT if the highest level motorcycle race in the world (or if it's not I'd love to hear about it!). Everyone runs liter (1000cc) bikes, and hit absurd speeds - for example, during this video, the AVERAGE SPEED is 136.386 MPH(218 KM/H). Deaths are recorded each year during the TT. When watching the video, notice that there are many wheelies - the engines are so strong and the motorcycles so light that the drivers have to be on the edge of grip and power, degrees of rotation of the wrist away from death while navigating a small curvy country road for almost 20 minutes.
- lproven 3y ago> Everyone runs liter (1000cc) bikes That is flatly not true. I watched several of this year's races from the trackside. I live on the Isle of Man. There are multiple categories, and I watched the 600cc supersports and sidecar races, also a 600cc category. The classes are listed here: https://the-race.com/motorcycle-racing/2023-isle-of-man-tt-guide-and-schedule/ https://the-race.com/motorcycle-racing/2023-isle-of-man-tt-g... Don't forget that a lot of riders graduate from the MGP to the TT. The Grand Prix is on the same course and has 200cc, 400cc and singles categories: https://manxgrandprix.co.uk/latest/page/classes-confirmed-for-centennial-manx-grand-prix/ https://manxgrandprix.co.uk/latest/page/classes-confirmed-fo... It's an amazing experience, but your attempt to oversimplify it turns it to something that is not the truth.
- motohagiography 3y agoThe beauty of this is the unwavering intention of the rider. There is no reaction, just relentless action and consequence. The only way to watch this is to track the furthest point you can see and actively chase it while you feel the immediate horizon fall in behind you like a tunnel, almost pushing you forward. You can't even have the memory of fear to ride like that, and the idea of self has to dissolve into muscle memory and action. To be able to just devour every last millisecond of life like that is a peak human experience. I can't compare my own riding to this, but to a motorcyclist, his shift timing is like listening to Clapton play guitar.
