  You're being downvoted, but you're being correct. The guy you respond to is ignoring actual reality, which is that people do not actually make conscious decisions. They don't "choose to click", because then clickbait wouldn't actually work and clickbait is meant to manipulate people into clicking. There's no decision process involved. Apparently the parent lives in a fantasy world where he believes that people aren't constantly being manipulated into doing things. So deathscrolling isn't a thing either. Clickbait doesn't exist. Advertisements are all useless. Subliminal messaging doesn't work. Etc. etc. Apparently, also, he thinks that because people are just "doing their jobs" that means it's okay for them to do the things they do, because they were told to do them, which is a horrible thing to think. That guy's fucking clueless.
