I believe "Anti-Authoritarian" is a misnomer. People labeled as "Anti-Authoritarian", myself included, are more likely "Auto-Authoritarian"; they trust their own authority first, rather than blindly believe the asserted authority of others.
- skymt 15y agoAuthority is a relational concept. One can have authority over another, but one's authority over oneself is called autonomy or self-reliance.
- adaml_623 15y agoI think your point is quite a good one. Taking control of the language used to describe the situation/subject under discussion is important to avoid the negative implications.
