Preaching to individuals is not at all effective, and some would say it's actually a distraction, as large scale companies and wealthy individuals are the chief offenders in climate pollution.
The measures necessary are to first stop congress from trading on companies while they hold official seats. It facilitates loopholes and lax enforcement of environmental crimes. Then companies need to all pay their fair share of taxes for environmental clean up and regulation, and they also need harsher penalties for mistakes. Then we need to find new ways of changing heavy industry and transportation to more carbon neutral methods... Frankly batteries create other problems, but technically there is no good reason why batteries should not be swappable in vehicles like propane tanks are (albeit with a forklift maybe) to prevent charge downtime and to facilitate routine battery maintenance and proper disposal/recycling.
We need to admit the current state of environmental protection is too geared towards making Elon and existing energy interests rich while still not being truly valid and non-polluting. We need to hold corporations accountable and they need to fund these efforts to truly stop the bleeding. Perhaps they can stop funding sports stadiums and arenas and put that money to better use.
