While I side with Gannett’s stance on the matter, the internet was around for quite a while before Google showed up. Innovation is what got the company where it is today, and yeah it made the usual hard right into anti-trust behavior, but given how reticent newspapers and old media were to embrace the internet in its inception, I’m loathe to imagine what their solutions for advertising would have been had they been more keen on Internet as a distribution direction.
