My old job offered a choice between work phone or $60/mo stipend (work laptop provided of course). My current job just assumes everyone use personal phone for free.
Really not a fan of that policy for MANY reasons. I've also refused to join it to our domain as that ALLOWS REMOTE DEVICE WIPE OF MY PERSONAL PHONE. Amazes me that so many consent to that.
However, in my current role, it's sort of a pick-your-battles thing right now.
- tonfreed 3y agoI claim part of my phone bill on tax because I have slack installed on it. It's a legitimate work expense here in Australia
- soupfordummies 3y agoYeah, I'm in US and I probably could also. I should look at that and I wonder if home internet is deductible for us with WFH.
- Turing_Machine 3y agoThat's what burner phones are for.
- soupfordummies 3y agoThat's a good idea, I do have a couple old Androids. I was using a google voice number for a while but that just got to be a hassle.

- DropInIn 3y agoThat requires they bother... Ime they just refuse and demand compliance from workers, because when you can avoid the cost why would you bother?
- soupfordummies 3y agoSounds interesting, I'll check it out. Thanks for the tip!
