Honestly, it is incredibly easy to comply with GDPR in a "greenfield company" if you value user privacy and follow best practices. Most of the law is what I consider common sense and minimizing data collection (which I view as a sane default).
It's only hard if you have already built a large enterprise two decades ago and need to apply technical and organizational measures now. (Especially when letting a 3rd party process your users' data)
