- faeriechangling 3y agoWhen I actively moderated Reddit I was long term unemployed and considered it community service (aware that Reddit is privately owned) and tried to organize information (faq/sticky/tags/sidebar/etc) and moderate to create something useful and helpful to the general public. Looking back though, it’s odd to me how much I could personally benefit myself at this point if I abused moderation powers for self-promotion because of the sheer reach that Reddit has and the extraordinary powers Mods have. But that was never the intention.
