What's trending today? (06/19: Titanic)
Instead of getting my news from the usual online outlets, I developed a script that checks the daily Google trends and summarize related articles with AI before sending me an email.
For example, the Titanic was trending today:
Searches for "Titanic" have spiked on Google today, with over 100,000 queries, following news of a missing submarine that was touring the Titanic wreckage .
Operated by OceanGate Expeditions, the submersible was carrying at least five people when it lost contact. The U.S. Coast Guard, along with other agencies, is conducting a massive search and rescue operation .
OceanGate Expeditions has been offering these underwater tours since 2021. As the search for the missing submersible continues, it has inadvertently brought attention back to the Titanic. The ship sank after hitting an iceberg on April 15, 1912, and has since lain at the bottom of the North Atlantic Ocean. The wreck, which some scientists believe is deteriorating at an increasingly rapid pace, remains a poignant symbol of human ambition and the power of nature.
If you find this approach interesting (I will probably improve my script over time), you can subscribe to my newsletter to get the emails too: https://trending-data.ck.page/7644c0e118
It is free anyway.
