Social media behavior is associated with vaccine hesitancy (2022)
- Nasrudith 3y agoThe title is slightly misleading. It says "social media behavior is associated with vaccine hesitancy", when it should really be "social media behavior associated with vaccine hesitancy" as it is about the specific behavior instead of the generic. In this case the misinformation vector is listening to Republican politicians. Which heavily implies that it is more about the misinformation source than the specific media vector.
- bequanna 3y agoLike the other words which have been used with the purpose of silencing and insulting (racist, transphobe, insurrection, etc.) “misinformation” has been overused to the point that it now is meaningless. For example, not too long ago the lab leak theory was silenced and widely called “misinformation”. Countless other examples where this word is simply used to silence opposing arguments.
- PM_me_your_math 3y agoMisinformation is a blanket terms often used by people who can't win arguments with objective facts. I love the one where nurses and doctors were gods walking among us, until the current executive dictated a requirement for the vaccine. At which point, skeptical medical professionals, who not a week earlier were our saintly saviors of immaculacy, became the most vile and evil murders, with body counts greater than Lenin, Stalin, and Pol Pot combined. All while the media-government hegemon told us three major falsehoods: 1. the vaccine stopped transmission 2. the vaccine prevented infection and 3. the vaccine prevented illness ...all three of which turned out to be a load of shit. I saw it play out the same way on nearly all platforms for all other surrounding topics and discussions, e.g. hydroxychloroquine to natural immunity. So you have to ask yourself; was the push for wide adoption of an experimental and poorly tested vaccine done because of fear, incompetence, or malice? We're generally not permitted to discuss this topic ...anywhere. I've come to expect the worst when discussing topics such as these.
