I think if you work at a company that recently laid off 21k people, you are less likely to feel comfortable saying you need help with doing your job.

  Hiding your mistakes until they blow up in your face is a much surer way to join the 21k .

    Depends. If it blows up and you fix it after a day of outage, you're a hero. if you deliver it late, but fix the problem first, you're not "getting it done"
