    I mean, he's not wrong though - the incentive was "University gets a large amount of cash" and the outcome, predictably, was "University bends over backwards to accommodate insane requests of donor". (The correct solution, obviously, is that universities should be sustainably state-funded and not require mega-donors with their associated insanities, etc. to survive.)

    Still don't understand the opposition to that. Students get affordable, safe, private housing on campus, where there's a million places to hang out beyond your windowless bedroom. Libraries, open spaces, study halls, cafes. The alternative is often paying $1K for some barely maintained triplex basement shared bedroom off of campus, from a negligent landlord.
