So three years ago, when I started my job, we worked quite a bit with GitHub and GitLab, and had at least one local repo on our personal devices. And a coworker of mine was responsible for pushing stuff at the right time to the GitLab instance.
Well, very early he decided that it was a good idea to use the option "-mend" (or something, I forget the exact word) and so every time he did a "git push" he used the "-mend" option. Of course, this string is not actually an option in itself, but it's the "-m" option followed by the text "end". And so, for six months, I'd look in the repo and I'd see every single commit with the commit message "end".
I seriously tried to discuss this with him once and it did not register, so I gave up, and so every commit continued with the same meaningless message, and I bet not a single person besides me even noticed or cared.
