Ask HN: I want to work in Tech. What's best between product and data?

I have a marketing master. I have been working in the entertainment industry in marketing and content ops positions for almost 10 years. I feel like I want to train on new skills. And of course, it looks like there are more and better paid opportunities in tech. That being said, I'm not sure if it's best to train for a product manager position or data scientist/analyst/engineer positions. Anyone who went down this type of path recently?
