Not to be a bandwagoner, but Lemmy has really picked up over the last few days. There's plenty of scaling issues right now, but take a look at the centralized community browser (https://browse.feddit.de/ https://browse.feddit.de/) to see if there are enough interesting budding subreddits there to pique your interest.
Will 90% of Redditors move over? Not immediately, and likely not ever. But if maybe 10% leave -- largely comprised of enthusiasts, moderators, and power users who benefited the most from old.reddit and third party apps -- then we've got a community the size of 2007 Reddit anyway. Which everyone seems to agree was a better-sized community than Reddit today anyway.
