I think this is Reddit single handedly doing what we have been wanting for so long a.k.a. decentralised communities.
The only advantage(?) Reddit had over these was a user could have feed from all these communities which is still possible with RSS
Edit: I want to know where r/selfhosted ended up, anyone knows?
- lolinder 3y agoselfhosted@lemmy.world is very active.
- slekker 3y agoshort rant: one thing I dislike about these ActivityPub links is that given it is parsed as an email, you cannot click it. Plus, I have no idea how this “email” translates to the actual URL I am supposed to use.
- lolinder 3y agoTrue: https://lemmy.world/c/selfhosted https://lemmy.world/c/selfhosted
- treyd 3y agoTypically they're written with an `@` prefix, which implies that it may be a handle that supports WebFinger: https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/WebFinger https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/WebFinger WebFinger technially uses a `acct:` URI protocol scheme, but this wouldn't work here. Lemmy writes community refs with a `!` prefix, which is somewhat unusual.
- natch 3y agoI think those in the bubbleverse think of that as a feature, not a bug.
- Doxin 3y agoIn general with the fediverse you go to the domain after the @ and over there use the search box to find the part preceding the @. In this case that leads me to https://lemmy.world/c/selfhosted https://lemmy.world/c/selfhosted
