You are assuming that Reddit mods are mentally sound, unbiased volunteers who do it to improve the world. That's simply not the case for a great deal of them. There is a LOT of agenda pushing, a LOT of powertripping and a LOT of mental illness at work. If that wasn't the case the blackout would have been completely site-wide without a time estimate.
