I still won't entirely understand where Appolo's 20Million figure comes from.
As far as I understand all the outrage is because of what the Appolo dev published, but reddit seems to claim that even for third party apps they get 100 queries per minute per user which seems like it would be enough? Whay is Appolo doing that this is not enough or what am i misunderstanding about 100 queries per Oauth client?
- chabad360 3y agoOAuth client means the Apollo app, not the individual user.
- rbera 3y agoIt’s not 100 queries per user, it’s per client id where the client id refers to the app as a whole. Effectively they changed this from the old limits where it was per user. - Yujf 3y agoAh I see. Thanks for the link that clears everything up.
- flutas 3y agoOld API was 60 queries per user, per client. New API is 100 queries, per client flat. So if Apollo had 100,000 users (as an example) they had 60 API calls for each of those users (6,000,000 / 10 minutes), now they have 100 per 10 minutes for all of those users total.
- frisbeemaniac95 3y agoThe cost is $0.24 per 1000 api calls. At Apollo's scale this works out to $20 mil per year. https://www.reddit.com/r/apolloapp/comments/144f6xm/apollo_will_close_down_on_june_30th_reddits/ https://www.reddit.com/r/apolloapp/comments/144f6xm/apollo_w...
