I have often wondered what the solution to the serialisation of objects between subinterpreters is. If its garbage collection that's the problem, I think you could transfer ownership between threads, so the subinterpreter takes ownership of the object and all references to it in the source interpreter are voided. Alternatively you can do something like Java and all objects are in a global object allocator, passing things between threads doesn't require interpretation, just a reference.
