Traditional way of teaching linear algebra is very abstract. But that's ok, or at least we use linear algebra in our CS programme as a way to teach abstract thinking, which is important for this subject. I would suggest that someone who has trouble (serious trouble that is) with linear algebra might have also trouble with other abstract things in computer science, like automata theory or grammars and compilers.
