When I moved to the US, I was flabbergasted at the number of traffic-related fatalities. Granted, I live in Texas and it seems to be above average, but I kind of miss the days when I still thought that Portuguese drivers were insane because of the way they overtake other vehicles.
When I drive, I try to avoid nearby trucks in every possible way. For some reason, “right of way” doesn’t seem to apply to them while changing lanes. As a result, a handful of my friends and relatives have been hit by trucks, none of these ever stopping to check for damages.
I don’t know if it’s the same everywhere but it definitely is an issue around where I live.
