America's Dangerous Trucks
- moose_man 3y agoThis is just sick, sometimes being American disgusts me. The fact that solution is so cheap and the agency tasked with regulation is so captive to the industry is the epitome of what is wrong with the US. It would only be at most a thousand dollars to stop a type of crash that almost guarantees that people in cars die horrific deaths.
- manuelabeledo 3y agoWhen I moved to the US, I was flabbergasted at the number of traffic-related fatalities. Granted, I live in Texas and it seems to be above average, but I kind of miss the days when I still thought that Portuguese drivers were insane because of the way they overtake other vehicles. When I drive, I try to avoid nearby trucks in every possible way. For some reason, “right of way” doesn’t seem to apply to them while changing lanes. As a result, a handful of my friends and relatives have been hit by trucks, none of these ever stopping to check for damages. I don’t know if it’s the same everywhere but it definitely is an issue around where I live.
