GPT-4-generated pitches are 3x more likely to secure funding than human ones
- ozten 3y agoWhat percentage of the investors were evaluating the pitch deck with the help of GPT-4?
- smackeyacky 3y agoThere is going to be a huge difference here between what these investors say they'd invest in vs. what they actually end up investing in. ChatGPT4 isn't going to change which school you went to or who your friends are which are both much better indicators of actual investment decisions. If you think you are going to use this to elevate your startup compared to others, well, if everybody is a super-hero nobody is.
- gsibble 3y agoWell, imagine you were sending your deck out to 100 VCs. Clearly, a GPT-4 tweaked deck would be more likely to land you the opportunity to pitch than if you wrote it yourself. That's pretty incredible. You don't have to base if off of "they'd definitely invest". That's dumb. Think about the advantage it gives you moving towards the possibility of investment.
- smackeyacky 3y agoNot if everybody is using it. How do you stand out then?
- DANmode 3y agoGet there first, be using superior prompts to avoid overdoing it, be using the best/latest available models (public and/or private).
- zardo 3y agoI knew LLMs were good at generating bullshit, but I didn't realize they were already beating top human performance at the task.
- strken 3y agoI wonder what the content of the pitch decks was? Is it just because GPT-4 gives unrealistically rosy numbers and is willing to outright lie, or is it genuinely better?
- rcme 3y agoYea, I would love to see some examples. Business fundamentals are obviously an important consideration for investors. If GPT-4 gets to make up the underlying business metrics, then that's an unfair advantage.
- sroussey 3y agoThe LLM knows the “shape” of an answer or a pitch. It might make up facts as part of the output, but it excels at optimizing for the structure of things that humans appreciate. Probably one of the more interesting aspects of LLMs.
- akomtu 3y agoNext episode: GPT4 is 3x better at identifying successful startups than VCs.
- gsibble 3y agoA company I work with is building this AI and it works extremely well.
- scotty79 3y agoThe value of VCs was never that they can identify successful startups correctly. It was always just the fact that they had money they didn't have any use for and were willing to blow it off. Until GPT4 is 3x better at accumulating useless capital the position of VCs in the whole scheme is safe
- euroderf 3y agoI for one welcome our new seed-investing overlords.
