I have to wonder if these higher and higher speeds are actually intended to be used on modern, mass manufactured PCBs. Motherboards on any desktop PC is only always going to be made out of FR4 purely from a cost point of view, I imagine. So are newer PCIe gen7 going to mandate cabling? At some point it becomes prohibitively expensive to route these signals across a standard ATX motherboard.
